The Order of the Frozen Flame

This was a request of a friend of mine. He plays an online game called Tribal Wars, in which you get to form a clan with other players and wage war. He requested I make a drawing to put on the homepage of his clan called “Frozen Flame”, hence the blue flames.

I’m very proud of the mountains in the background. They were an experiment, but in the end they came out brilliantly! In my humble opinion, of course. I’m not that fond of the lighting though. The flaming sword and banner was somewhat of an aftermath addition. That is to say, I had planned to add them, but didn’t shade the figure accordingly, so I had to completely tweak the lighting to compensate for two additional light sources, which causes it to look so messy. The flames themselves didn’t come out that well either, but it’s making progress.

Line art on paper, everything else in Photoshop as usual. Let me know what you think!

He realy is, isn't he :D Nah, this drawing was flawed from the get go. I just opted to be lazy and didn't bother do draw him all over again. I'm not so fond of this piece, truth be told, but if all else fails it could still serve as a bad example :D

Yeah, I espescialy like his last five drawings. They have this amzing children's book quality to them; even more so then his other works. The photograph of Hope is fantastic as wel. Realy liked that one.

The background is really impressive on this, I think! I couldn't begin to imagine how to draw good mountains, let alone with all the details put into it. The flames look pretty good, too (I find them somewhat difficult to draw accurately). As for the massive army in the background, it's amazing~

Thanks you! The mountain is actually a gray shape with a whole lot of stripes happhazerdly Burned and Dosged up and down the slope. It's quite easy realy! And the army is a whole lot of copy and paste, but you figured as much, I suppose :)

You're welcome!
Awww, but it's a really nice example of copy and paste, though. It looks seamless to me; with a lot of the copy-paste things I see, there are "seams", so to say, that are quite distracting.

My greatest issue with the army is that it's not in perspective. It's just a grid interrupted by erased lines. It's not something you'd immediatly notice and not a major flaw, but ofcourse I know, so it bugs me :D
