Titan Wasp by Saurus Titan Wasp by Saurus
“Eventually I did manage to find myself a rider willing to give me a run on one of the titan wasps. When I met up with him he handed me a helmet like the one I always saw them wear. Figuring a helmet wouldn’t do me much good should I fall of in mid flight I gave the helmet back, laughing that we wouldn’t be going in combat anyway. He pushed the helmet back my way with a smile, saying “You’ll be sitting approximately ten feet from a titan wasp’s wings beating a rough one hundred times per second. This helmet isn’t to keep you from getting injured; it’s to keep you from going deaf”.”

-David Norsvik, “Travelling Journal”.-

Yay! I finished another drawing. Only took me several months too. Not the drawing itself –that only took me a week or so- but getting over the creative block. Nothing new about this one. If anything this drawing has taught me it’s that I need to persist more in finishing a work piece. Let’s hope I’ll manage to get back into the art loop.

You know if you think about it, wasps are really aggressive and mean spirited-creatures

They'd make a good war animal if they were titians (and didn't want to kill you)

Good use of expression and symbolism with the facial expression of the rider and the lighting. Where did you get the idea?

I doubt they'd be easily domesticated though :D Some internet searching teaches me they can be conditionated, but they forget again a day later.

Not a clue where I got the idea. I made the drawing several weeks ago, and as far as I recall it was on a whim.

Long live the whim!

Many ideas stem from whims

You say the line art is shoddy, but the piece looks great to me. It has a good sense of motion, and the wasp looks like something I wouldn't want to run into—well done ;)

Yeah, I'm a bit nitpicky about my line art, but it usualy is my weakest point in my drawings :) Thanks for the comment mate!

Thanks mate! To be fair though, the lines within the wings were just a quick copy of a dragonfly reference.
